An 8 year old Glenallachie from the new batch of the Virgin Oak Series. A whiskey initially matured in American oak barrels and then aged for 18 months in Scottish sessile oak barrels (Quercus Petrae): coming from the Atlantic coast, it is a very difficult wood to work due to its hardness. Not artificially colored and not cold filtered, bottled at the grade of 48%. Available in only 2250 bottles.
In 2017 the distillery was bought by Billy Walker. Unlike in the past, where most of the single malt production ended up in blended, with the arrival of the new master distiller, now almost all of the production is placed on the market as single malt.
Nose: Oats, caramel, cinnamon and heather honey.
Palate: Slightly citrusy with notes of white chocolate.
Final: Persistent with notes of caramel and butterscotch.
