Whisky was spreading around the world partly thanks to the merchant J.G. Thomson<\/b>. Inspired by the bustling port of Leith, JG Thomson & Co. developed and refined their blending skills in the historic Edinburgh warehouse, now home to the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. In 1785 they began exporting across the world and when it came to whisky, there was no class divide: bottles of JG Thomson graced the banqueting tables of the great and powerful as well as the neighbourhood bars frequented by the common man and woman.<\/p>\n
